Eye examinations… more than just eye tests
Comprehensive eye examinations are more than just “testing” your eyes. Regular eye tests ensure your eyes are healthy and that your glasses are most suited to your individual needs.
However, checking your vision to see if you require glasses or contact lenses is only one aspect of an eye examination.
We can also detect ocular health problems such as glaucoma and cataracts, and even general health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Our practice takes great pride in providing the most comprehensive eye examination possible and uses the latest technology and equipment to assist us in the assessment of your vision and ocular health.
It is recommended to have an eye test every 2 years or sooner if you are experiencing problems.
Retinal imaging takes a couple different forms including retinal photography and optical coherence tomography or OCT. OCT is a relatively recent technological advancement in eyecare which enables us to capture a digital image of the retina, blood vessels and optic nerve located at the back of your eyes. Retinal imaging examination only takes a few minutes and is totally painless. It allows for a more detailed view and detection of subtle changes that cannot be achieved by conventional methods of examination; by monitoring any changes to the back of your eyes, immediate treatment or a referral to another health care professional can be provided in a timely manner.
OCT is an essential tool in the early detection and management of diseases that can affect both your eyes and overall health including conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertension.
